There’s no need to put others down to prop up a player but it’s not a stretch at all to say that Hintz is the most complete forward overall on the Stars. When it comes to forwards, he’s in the shadows of Robertson. When it comes to the contingent of Finns in Dallas, he lives in the shadow of Miro Heiskanen. Hintz is arguably the most underrated player on the Stars and has a strong argument for that title across the NHL. ![]() It’s certainly been troublesome for the Wild in this series. ![]() Otherwise, if you give him that space, it’s going to be troublesome.” Just as we talk about with Connor McDavid and having gaps everywhere on a player like that that can separate in a hurry, you’ve got to be close to him. When talking about Hintz last year, Wild head coach Dean Evason put him in some rarified air. He’s the one who is the focal point of the opposition and draws the attention. Tyler Seguin has filled in more than admirably (more on that later) and Evgenii Dadonov has stepped up in a major way but Hintz is the one carrying the load. The Stars lost Joe Pavelski one period into the series and Robertson, who has been a factor on the power play, is still looking for his first even-strength point of the series. Hintz’s performance comes at a critical juncture for the Stars. He’s gone to another level here at the most important time of the year. “He’s a big, powerful man that won’t get intimidated, won’t get pushed out of any game. “He’s built for the playoffs,” Stars head coach Pete DeBoer said. That all after Hintz tallied a hat trick in Game 2 for the Stars’ first win of the series. Hintz has assisted on all six of those goals, three in Game 4 and three more in Game 5. Late empty-netter aside in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over the Wild, the Stars have scored six goals in the last two games against the Wild to come back from a 2-1 series deficit and take a 3-2 lead. The Stars have scored 17 goals in the first five games of their first-round series against the Wild and Hintz has had a direct hand in 11 of them. The Stars have a collection of elite players on the team but no skater has been as impactful, and important, as Hintz. That shows you how elite some of the guys we’ve got on our team are.” ![]() You’re always surprised because your memory of those guys, they were such great players. “I took a peek at the scoreboard and you see Modano and those types of names, it’s like when (Jason) Robertson broke (Modano’s) season record. “You’re always surprised when you see the names on that list,” Stars head coach Pete DeBoer said.
